POSITION OVERVIEW

The Hospital Security Officer helps maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the hospital campus. Officers patrol the facility and grounds, respond to calls for service and security incidents, monitor security systems and assist during emergency situations.

This role involves regular interaction with patients, visitors and staff and requires the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in stressful or unpredictable situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Patrol the hospital campus and grounds and identify potential safety or security concerns
2. Respond to and investigate security-related incidents
3. Monitor CCTV surveillance and access control systems
4. Respond to hospital emergency situations, including fire, security and medical events
5. Use verbal de-escalation and conflict-resolution techniques with distressed or aggressive individuals
6. Assist clinical teams with patient restraints when necessary
7. Complete accurate incident and daily shift reports
8. Communicate with supervisors and law enforcement when appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or GED required
2. Security, law enforcement, military or customer service experience preferred
3. Healthcare security experience strongly preferred
4. Strong customer service and communication skills
5. Ability to remain calm and effectively de-escalate individuals in crisis
6. Ability to complete clear and accurate security reports

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active position requiring frequent standing and continuous walking throughout the hospital campus. The role also requires the ability to perform the physical duties associated with hospital security, including lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying as required by the position.
